The lies of society
I've mentioned the guy who inspired me to start journaling here, though I haven't really done that since the post of my restart. He himself hosts a Github log of sorts and the latest post I found interesting and would love to continue upon.
In 2022, I had written an article titled "Perspectives' in my personal notebook, and reading his post today I remembered of that article. I had jotted down about perspectives and how life changes drastically through them. Also how fascinating it would be to view oneself in 3rd person. Would we feel the same pity we feel for ourselves then? Would I even look like the person I make myself to be? And what makes something wrong or right in essence when everything is just a action that may or may not have a significant reaction? These were some of the questions I had tried to figure out in the log. He mentioned not being the user but the product.( He looks at things from a coders eye, everything is a code to him, at least I think) And that instantly made me remember the song Natural by Imagine Dragons. And the statement is one with which I agree, but to an extent. I've always had this bugging feeling that the entire universe and everything is just a big simulation. A complex open world code that's running and we are nothing but the output of the code. We are as real as the characters in a video game, as for Steve he is real in the Minecraft world and everything that happens to him is his existence. I always thought then why cant the same be true for us? I don't know who is the coder or if there is one, but there seems to be no way of verifying if this is indeed just a program. And till this can be disproved I'd like to believe it as such. But still our actions do have an impact on the overall code.
But I don't agree on his 4th paragraph. The updates sure were downloaded without consent, but which one were to be downloaded, on this we had control. At a young age this master control was with our parents, they chose the environment we would be exposed to and their own personality had a direct effect on the updates that would shape our own. Later on as we made friends and got to know the world a bit more, we began choosing the kind of updates that we would get. Maybe not directly but indirectly we shaped our personality, mindset, image in the societal crux.
In today world of digitalization and technological advances, people are more in touch with devices than humans. The society that once prevailed and condemned the person is doing so in digital ways. And this is even more harmful, since there is loss of empathy, a sense of connection that once bound Homo sapiens is now shattered due to the barriers created by screens.
This is also having a major impact on the mindset and behavior of the youth and everyone in todays time. When I saw the disrespect and coldness shown by students here I was sure that this was due to "bahar ki hawa" (outside influence) Yet going back to India I see that it the same situation everywhere and its blame can't be on the shoulders of one sole factor. People have lost kindness and the will to help without something in return. Everything has become a transaction even to the point of relations and partners. Heck, some kids even 'expect' that their parents are to be the ones paying for any whim they have, since 'They gave us birth, and if you couldn't deal with it then they shouldn't have". This makes me lose hope in the world and saddens me a lot.
My biggest problem is that I don't express myself fully. I want to help you with your problems and issues sincerely but I don't want to burden you with mine. I feel that I can, rather must deal it it myself. Ego is a very bad thing when it gets associated with the wrong things.
Well, I think that's it for now, I'm really happy I could express myself here and also for the post he made, that made me start thinking again, to bring back the old me I had forgotten existed. Thanks AK.
