Inside the Mind of a Criminal
Inside the Mind of a Criminal
The girl stood in front of her mothers grave, the rain was threatening to blow away the trees, but the girl stood there immobile. Memories rushed back to her as she went into the flashback of it all. she felt ashamed and guilty. If only she had tried to understand her mother. But the truth was she didn't care. Nina had warned her not to interfere, not to make Nina angry.
Mr. and Mrs Starkov had been confused when the nurse informed them about their daughter. she was different they said, she was special. Nina still turned out to be quite normal, rather better than most of her classmates. Then suddenly one day Mr. Starkov came home frustrated. Nina didn't understand what had been the issue. Her every jolly dad looked shaken and kept babbling,
" It was a mistake! I swear it was. How could they.. It was outright cruel, horrifying...
This continued for a couple of months. Daily Mr. Starkov would come home more wretched than before. And then suddenly as if nothing had happened it stopped. Just like that, abruptly. Nina was happy to have her dad back to normal, but she was scared. And just as everything was getting normal, they came to their home. The door broke, screams filled the air like specters gliding in and out of focus. Her dad yelled at her to run and then the gun-shot. It pierced the air like a sharp knife and was stopped by the scream of her mother.
These memories still gave Nina sleepless nights. She had become a quite girl after that. Her grades dipped and soo did everything else in her life. She was frustrated and turned a bully. Mrs. Starkov was doing all she could to pay for Nina's schooling and their survival, yet the sudden death of her husband had shaken her as much as Nina. The police had come to investigate once, but never again. Nina hadn't shed a single tear after her dads death. She didn't smile or laugh or cry. She just sat in her room staring at the wall, aimless. Mrs. Starkov was fed up with life and sometimes vented out on poor Nina. Nina, who she failed to realize had turned oblivious. She had only one desire now, revenge. She wanted only the dead face of the attackers. And she was willing to go to any extents for this.
And now her life had turned more bitter. Something had happened that left her feeling more alone than she ever felt. Nina snapped when her mom locked her in her room for the whole day. Nina had tried to beat up some kids and it was a case for half-murder. Nina had taken the action without realising it's outcome. She broke the door and when her mother tried to shout at her, thwak. One hard blow with the metal bat and her mom crumpled like a pile of dry leaves. She didn't execpt it at first, but she could she the blood in the floor and her moms lifeless eyes. Her mother was dead and she was the one responsible for it. As the reality rushed at her like a howling gust Nina broke down. She let out an anguished yell, full of self-loathing, anger, and lonliness. She already was sentenced to prison for the half-murders and now this.
"No, I can't be caught" she thought to herself, her mind turning logical. She ran to get the med-box and pulled out an insulin syringe. She carefully gave her mom an overdose under the tounge. She too the body and place it in the fridge, to avoid unwanted eyes and the smell. She carefully laid out a plan to evade the police and hide the body of her mom. She didn't even know how and when such knowledge had been acquired by her. But she had learned some nasty stuff over the years and she was gonna use it all to achieve her ends.
Now staring at the grave was a lady full of remorse and regret. But, she knew those wouldn't bring her mother or her father back. She had to avenge her dads death, and she was not going to spare anyone involved...
